Six years of KBMS: Progress, Partnerships, and Possibilities
Highlights from the newsletter
2019:
- 28 students. Three unfinished classrooms.
Today:
- 78 students in grades 7–11. Grade 12 will start in September and we expect at least 55 new students.
- A full campus with 12 classrooms, a science lab, library, administrative building, housing for 160 students and 16 staff. Paved road access, clean running water, and electricity.
Recent highlights:
- Achieved the best results in the state for the 9th Grade Basic Education Certificate Exam.
- Launching a student exchange program this fall: Cathedral High School in Indianapolis is offering four KBMS students classroom and cultural experiences in the U.S.
What's needed now:
- Increased solar capacity (more panels and energy storage). Currently unable to generate sufficient power for daily operations.
- More housing to for teachers and staff, including purchasing and installing toilets, cabinets, and paint.
- Support for scholarships and an endowment fund, so that gifted students from the local community who cannot afford tuition can nonetheless continue their education.
